2025 PRESIDENTS REPORT

Dear Members,

It is my pleasure to present the President’s Report for Bexley RSL and Community Club for the year ending 31 December 2025.
Building on the strong foundations of recent years, I am pleased to report another positive financial performance by the Club. Despite ongoing economic pressures and a challenging operating environment, the Club has continued to demonstrate resilience, achieving a positive net profit for the year of $322,218, after non-cash depreciation and amortisation of $866,911, and an income tax expense of $38,524. This result is especially encouraging given the ongoing cost-of-living pressures felt by so many in our community. This result reflects the careful financial management of the Board and leadership team, along with the continued loyalty and support of you, our members.

A key focus throughout 2025 has been the continued investment in our Club’s facilities. Following the successful introduction of Mike’s Grill, which has quickly established itself as a popular dining destination, we have turned our attention to broader upgrades aimed at enhancing the overall member experience. The most recent was the installation of a kids play area and the replacement of our ageing passenger lift. Members will now enjoy a faster more reliable entry from the car park into the Club. These improvements are part of a longer-term vision to modernise the Club and ensure it remains relevant, comfortable, and appealing for years to come.

We have also continued to strengthen our asset position and strategic outlook. The consolidation of our land holdings on Stoney Creek Road places the Club in a strong position for future opportunities, while also safeguarding our long-term interests. In parallel, discussions regarding a longer-term lease arrangement with the Sub-Branch remain ongoing, and the Board remains committed to achieving an outcome that provides certainty and supports future capital investment.

Our commitment to the community remains unwavering. Through the ClubGRANTS scheme and other initiatives, we have once again provided meaningful financial and in-kind support to a range of local organisations and community groups. Supporting our local community is at the heart of what we do, and we will continue to look for opportunities to strengthen these important relationships.

As an election year, 2025 also saw the successful completion of the Board election process. I would like to thank all members who participated, and I congratulate those Directors elected who were elected unopposed to serve for 2-year term. Your ongoing engagement in the governance of the Club is both valued and appreciated.

Looking ahead, the industry continues to evolve, with increasing regulatory focus on areas such as compliance, and responsible gambling. While these changes present challenges, they also provide an opportunity for the Club to adapt, improve, and lead with integrity. The Board and management remain committed to ensuring the Club operates responsibly and in the best interests of its members.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to sincerely thank our General Manager, Christian, for his continued leadership and dedication. I also extend my appreciation to our Vice President Les Crompton, fellow Directors, the Sub-Branch, our management team and staff, and our catering partners for their hard work and commitment throughout the year.

Most importantly, thank you to you, our members, for your ongoing loyalty and support. It is because of you that Bexley RSL continues to thrive.

I look forward to another successful year ahead and to sharing it with you at the Club.

Yours sincerely,
Brian Beatty
President
